I’ve Got Something to Say About This…St. Patrick’s Day

Another week and I feel very ill prepared. Today is St. Patrick’s day and we are supposed to celebrate it with the wearing of green and typically if you do not wear such color then it will result in a “pinch” from others. I am glad that I don’t know many people who still abide by such “rules” especially since I forgot to wear green today. I do have green eyes, although that is never accepted, or at least by most. My boyfriend asked why do we celebrate it here in the US and it got me to thinking about the reason why. When you log on to Google, it is decorated for the day, but do we know why? Do we care? Is it just an excuse to party, drink green beer and celebrate? What is St. Patrick’s Day all about?

Merry Christmas

The big day is finally here! All year, men, women and children wait for this day. We wait for the food, togetherness, or presents, but for whatever reason, we all have a reason to celebrate. There are those who do not celebrate Christmas and I understand that, but for those who do, Merry Christmas!!! I hope your day is filled with cheer, good food, family, friends and all the good things your heart desires.

The holidays are about being together with those you love. For me, this picture includes two things I love penguins and the idea of being together. I know that there are those who are far away from their families this holiday season, but for me it’s all about being connected and near those you love.

Next Two Weeks…

The holidays are upon us! I don’t know about everyone else in the blogging world, but I have some time away from work and I am going to use this time for myself. I hope to write at least one post a day for the next two weeks, but if I miss a day or two, just know that it means life has gotten the best of me and I am out living it. I hope that everyone enjoys the time they have away from work or school, if you are able to get away. I think this time is for relaxing and being with the ones you love and who love you.

Wishing for Snow

Here in Texas, at least where I am, this is the only snow I get this year. It has been cold, which is nice and helps with the season, but snow is very rare here. I have seen it snow here, even on Christmas eve one year, but those years are few and far between. I know that snow doesn’t make it the holidays, just like anything else it is what we make it, but there are times that I wish I could sit in front of a fireplace and get cozy with the one I love.

The Magic of the Holidays

I remember being a kid, being so excited when it came closer to Christmas and being almost unable to wait until Christmas morning. Now I barely remember how soon Christmas is and those feelings I used to get, I have to try and find now, when they used to be natural. Where do those feelings go? Do we lose that childlike excitement and glee as we grow older? What was it I was looking forward to? Was it easier to believe in Santa Clause and believe in the “magic” of the season? Do we grow up and lose that?

Making the Holidays Count

Cedars just embody the idea of the holidays, although not so much the rain dripping from the branches, still it has a holiday feel. When we think of Christmas, we think of the trees, stockings, presents, hot chocolate, family, friends, for some Jesus (depending on religious beliefs), and food!! Just like any other holiday, Christmas has become completely commercialized. All over the world it is celebrated in different ways, but if nothing else, it’s something brings us together.

‘Tis the Season

Finally, I made time last night to bust out the Christmas decorations and get my tree set up. There are times when I feel unmotivated, for lack of a better word, to decorate for the holidays. Growing up, I think a lot of people feel this way, but I loved the holiday season. Everything seemed so fresh, new and exciting. I loved being able to feel the chill in the air and the excitement of what I might get on Christmas morning. Now I have grown up, no children yet, and I find that at times I seem to have lost that holiday spirit.
