Another week and another installment of “I’ve Got Something to Say About This…” Today marks the end of sign up for Obamacare, although that is not what I will be writing about here. There could be a lot to say about signing up for health insurance and being forced to sign up for it, or else you pay for it. This week, I have choose to focus on writing about something a little bit closer to home.
Living in an apartment is always scary most of the time for various reasons, theft, fire, rude neighbors and that are just a few of the issues you might run into. Lately, as the story above tells, there have been some major apartment fires in the Houston area. These could all be accidents or intentionally set, but regardless many people end up both homeless and having lost everything.
It is heartbreaking to think about losing everything. That in one moment, due to the fault of someone else, you can lose your entire world and you have no control over it. I guess like always, control is just an illusion anyway. Although your heart has to go out to the families that are affected by this event and others like it, that happen every day. Have you ever thought about what you would do? What if you lost everything? Or what if you already have had this experiences, recovering from it?
In the end, all one can hope is that should something life altering happen that you have friends and a community around you that can offer aid. We all ignore things like this until we need it, but these places are there for reasons just like this. These kind of instances are good reminders for fire safety and always being mindful of the things that we are doing and realizing that our lives impact those of others. We might be busy, but if you lose everything is it worth being neglectful? We all need to slow down, take a moment and focus on what we are doing so that we can help ourselves and those around us. At least that is my two cents.
